Vivonet Customer Case Studies Digest

The landscape of the hospitality industry doesn’t remain constant. It’s very much driven by shifting technology trends and evolving expectations of guests. But if there is a constant factor in place it's this; the need for greater visibility and clarity of business data to help business leaders navigate the changing tides of a fast-paced industry.

As a SaaS company specifically serving multi-location hospitality brands, we at Vivonet work with many fine organizations to help them meet their business goals. The tools we provide to them have varied over the years, from cloud POS to back-office solutions, with many other tools and services in between. But, their goals were, and are, largely the same.

So, what are some success stories that our customers have to tell that touch on some of the most common barriers and goals of the hospitality industry?

In this post, I’ve compiled some summaries and links to 8 case studies we’ve conducted over the years, in no particular order. These case studies catch each business during a time when they had a specific challenge to overcome.They already had the vision for themselves. The technology just helped them to get where they needed to be. And in the end, the measurement of their success is always all about results, as you’ll see.

Burger 21

To build on their reputation for freshness, family restaurant chain Burger 21 needed to improve their inventory process to maintain best quality and less waste without taking up too much of management’s time on the floor with guests. Using Vivonet back office tools and tablet-based inventory applications, they saved a range of 3-4% on food costs between locations, and 50% of management time.

Norcal

This company sought to consolidate data across multiple locations, and to save on food costs and reduce waste while they were at it. Owning 17 Popeyes locations in Louisiana, Norcal used Vivonet back-office tools to create a better view to what was happening at each location with a clearer path on how to take action. From there, they saw a 1% savings in food costs, translating to $170K annual savings.

Booster Juice

This premium juice and smoothie bar chain was looking to reduce operational costs, and increase the accuracy of their reporting. By investing in Vivonet cloud POS, they saved $1.5 million, with an average of $9K saved per location. And all without increasing IT headcount.

Haberkorn

Haberkorn operates a selection of Popeyes locations in Illinois. They needed a greater handle on back office reporting, specifically around the reduction of food costs. Working with Vivonet, they reduced those costs by 4%, yielding an annual savings of $330K. Use of back office tools were a part of their commitment to food management best practices that improved daily operations all around.

Pita Pit

Focusing on fresh and healthy food, sandwich and salad chain Pita Pit was also looking to gain a greater foothold in their market. To do that, they looked for a POS system that gave them greater menu control, and provided the financial data and overall business intelligence they needed to increase revenues by 10% for the quarter after the POS went into use.

RichPOP

With several Popeyes locations in the Richmond, VA. area, the issue of food cost reduction was paramount to their success. They also wanted to use a system that was user-friendly to increase their efficiency. The result was a 2% food cost reduction that yielded a $40K savings per location. The core of the improvement was related to the quality of reporting. They were able to make sense of the data in a way they couldn’t before.

Rinna Restaurant Group (RRG)

Rinna operates over ten Popeyes locations in South Carolina and Georgia, basing their success on the quality and accuracy of reporting to find inefficiencies and eliminate them. Vivonet helped with that by providing the back-office tools needed to reduce food costs by 2%, including the amount of paper the company had been using. Additionally, the company saved 1% in labor costs, and a whopping 50% time saved on administration time.

Texas Chicken & Burgers

With locations in New York and Philadelphia, Texas Chicken & Burgers needed to simplify operations across 19 locations and make them more efficient to decrease customer wait times. They needed a better handle on data to help them do it, and a better process to bring that result about. Using Vivonet Cloud POS, they could pinpoint each location’s capacity more accurately, set more realistic targets, and eventually see a 10-20% revenue increase over two years, raising their brand awareness profile in their very competitive market by 10%, too.

Solving real hospitality industry challenges

As demonstrated in each of these stories, the role that technology plays in helping hospitality brands overcome their challenges is pivotal. But ultimately, the real agent for change has always been in gaining the ability to take faster action on company data with a better understanding of the story it tells. 

Cloud-based technology reveals patterns in the data more accurately and much faster than the tools of the past. Knowing what the barriers are to success has been a common thread running through each case study listed above.
