Vivonet Has Reinvented the Cash Register Providing Web-Based Point-Of-Sale Software for the North American Restaurant Industry

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – Oct. 20, 2011) -

Vivonet Inc. is being recognized as one of the top 50 Canadian companies on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50™ for making world-class achievements and evolving the Canadian technology sector. Vivonet is ranked 43 in Canada for the 2011 Fast 50 and 243 in North America on the Technology Fast 500™ list, the rating is based on five successive years of growth. Vivonet is well known for “reinventing the cash register” with its innovative, web-based point of sale (POS) software Halo™ revolutionizing retail transaction data management in the North American restaurant industry.

Over the last five years, Vivonet has experienced 365 per cent growth with over $110 million in customer transactions per month. Last year Vivonet secured a landmark agreement with Sodexo Inc. to deploy Halo™ into the majority of its 6,000 North American client sites by 2015. Earlier this year, Vivonet launched the company’s new mobile technology, Halo Mobile™, introducing mobile ordering and payment to customers, taking the line-up out of take-out.

“The recognition as Canada’s Technology Fast 50 is a testament to our team’s exceptional work and achievements over 10 years,” said Ryan Volberg, president and CEO of Vivonet Inc. “Our forward thinking approach for the North American restaurant industry is helping food establishments manage their sales and operations in real-time and allows us to cater to each clients’ needs – from small to large businesses. Halo Mobile™ is taking our customer service into new territory and providing products to the consumer, not just the restaurant industry anymore.”

Burnaby-based Vivonet is changing the way restaurants and other food services retailers conduct business by combining a user friendly interface with real-time data and analytics. Vivonet’s point of sale (POS) technology, Halo™, is a stark contrast to traditional POS solutions and eliminates the need for complex and expensive site specific equipment and on-site IT support. The company’s product is providing a flexible and affordable solution securely over the Internet and is leading the way for Software as a Service (“SaaS”).

With the release of Halo Mobile™ in fall 2011, Vivonet is offering a convenient new app that modernizes the ordering and payment process, and allows customers to order, pay and set pick-up times from their favourite restaurants directly on their smartphones. The app allows cafes and restaurants, small and large, to quickly and easily get their brand featured in the App Store and Android Marketplace and compete in a market that might not have been available to them before. The app is synced to Halo, their web-based restaurant Point of Sale (POS) system, and the technology enables the merchants to fulfill orders instantly.

Port Moody’s artisan coffee house, Caffé Divano, was the first Vivonet customer to launch Halo Mobile and introduce the iPhone app to its customers in the Tri-City area. Clients such as Caffé Divano are noticing a higher than average cheque from customers using Halo Mobile.

Vivonet wins British Columbia Technology Industry Association Award for Emerging Company of the Year

TIA-winner_seal

Vivonet Inc. has been awarded the 2011 Emerging Company of the Year by the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) for “reinventing the cash register”.

This award recognizes Vivonet’s innovative POS software Halo™ that has revolutionized retail transaction data management. Halo™ is a web-based complete POS software enabling small and medium sized restaurants and retailers to remotely manage their restaurants whenever and wherever they are. It gives restaurateurs and retailers a new level of control over their operations and in turn boosts bottom line by consolidating equipment and allowing easy, real-time access to important information.

“We are extremely honoured to be awarded the Emerging Company of the Year by the BCTIA and recognized for our accomplishments and innovation in Software as a Service,” said Ryan Volberg, president and CEO of Vivonet Inc. “We are 100 per cent dedicated to our clients and will continue to enable, acquire and organize millions of transactions for our customers and provide restaurants and retailers with the world’s most trusted source of retail performance information.”

In a fast growing company, it’s essential to make sure your teams are focused. Vivonet understands this, and uses a number of innovative practices to drive momentum forward and encourage collaboration across departments. Each month, all executives and managers are taken off-site for a one day session to work on “the big picture” and ensure all teams are prioritizing their objectives on the most important opportunities. The company doesn’t stop there – they also focus on customer communication.  It’s a requirement at Vivonet for every technical team member to shadow customer support and system implementation teams for a minimum of four hours every month. In the fast moving and high pressure restaurant business, this ensures the voice of the customer is being communicated from the front lines and passed directly to the people who manage functionality of the systems that are supporting Vivonet’s customers.

With the release of Halo MobileTM Vivonet is taking a giant leap forward in revolutionizing the restaurant industry and allowing customers to order, pay and set pick-up times from their favourite restaurants directly on their smartphones. The smartphone app for Android™ and iOS devices link directly to the restaurant’s web-based Halo POS system, allowing the restaurateur to use a single system to manage menus, ordering and payment. HaloMobile™ allows restaurant owners to see exactly how their branded app is performing through their POS reporting interface. The app allows every restaurant to quickly and easily get their brand featured in the App StoreSM and Android™ Market and compete in a market that might not have been available to them before.

The BCTIA Technology Impact Awards recognizes companies in BC delivering integrating innovations that touch all sectors of the economy. The Emerging Company of the Year award acknowledges an emerging company with continuous revenue growth, innovative products or services, strong business plan and has potential of becoming a leader in its market. This year’s Technology Impact Awards attracted over 100 applications from companies of all sectors and sizes and from all corners of British Columbia.

Vivonet was recognized as the 9th fastest growing company in BC by Business in Vancouver in 2010 and in the same year, Vivonet secured a $60 million agreement with Sodexo, a leading provider of Comprehensive Service Solutions, to deploy Halo™ in the majority of Sodexo’s 6,000 North American client sites by 2015.  This record breaking agreement with Sodexo also led to a marketing partnership with Intuit.

This is the fourth accolade Vivonet has earned this year. The company was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Best Workplaces by Great Place to Work® Institute, and was named one of the Most Innovative Companies in BC by BC Business Magazine.  Vivonet was also selected by Rocket Builders in January as one of its top 25 “Ready to Rocket” Information and Communications Technology companies in BC.

Vivonet Recognized as One of Canada’s Top 100 Best Workplaces

Vivonet Inc., the leader in secure web-based POS software for the North American restaurant industry, is being recognized as one of the 2011 Top 100 Best Workplaces in Canada by the Great Place to Work® Institute.

Vivonet demonstrates employee and workplace satisfaction by fostering key management practices for building a culture of trust through innovation, productivity and collaboration. Vivonet concentrates on ensuring a high level of employee and workplace satisfaction in addition to its exceptional business success.

“The recognition is an honour and demonstrates that true success comes from within a company,” said Ryan Volberg, president and CEO of Vivonet Inc. “We have an exceptionally skilled and talented team that has helped to shape our culture making it an innovative, fun and exciting workplace.”

Vivonet makes celebrating success a priority.  The company enjoys marking milestones and wins and recognizes achievements through numerous programs: kudos on Yammer!, annual awards presentations, and employee driven “shout-outs” at their weekly meetings.

As a company that’s tripled its staff in the last year, Vivonet knows that orientation for new employees is serious business.  However, they also like to add a dose of fun into the mix.  For new employees, the comprehensive three-day orientation program includes a corporate history lesson with the CEO and even a scavenger hunt that includes tasks such as getting a high-five from each member of the accounting team. In addition, all employees receive a Restaurant Industry Orientation session from a Red Seal Chef in order to better understand Vivonet’s customers and how the company’s POS system, Halo, is integrated and used in all facets of daily restaurant operations.

The Great Place to Work® Institute selects its winners based on a 58-statement survey completed by employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization, and on an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of human resources policies and procedures.

Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work: creditability, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie. This year’s list received participation from more than 50,000 employees for the 2011 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture.

This is the third award Vivonet has earned this year. Earlier in April, Vivonet was named one of the Most Innovative Companies in BC by BC Business Magazine, and in January Vivonet was selected by Rocket Builders as one of its top 25 “Ready to Rocket” Information and Communications Technology companies in BC.
