Vivonet Inc., leader of on-demand enterprise management, point-of-sale (POS), payment processing and performance benchmarking solutions is pleased to announce its compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard and its achievement of the Visa Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) certification for Level 1 Service Providers, the highest security level certification in the payment industry.

In response to growing security concerns, Visa USA instituted the CISP requirements to ensure that members, merchants and service providers were providing the highest level of security. In 2004, the CISP requirements were integrated into the PCI Data Security Standards as part of a cooperative initiative within the payment industry.

Separate and distinct from the PCI Data Security Standard is the validation of compliance whereby companies verify and demonstrate their compliance status to earn certification.

Visa has developed compliance criteria based on the volume of transactions, the potential risk, and exposure introduced into the payment system by merchants and service providers. The CISP certification was awarded to Vivonet as a Level 1 Service Provider that provides payment gateway services to merchants. To maintain this level, Vivonet must continue to undergo regular audits to prove adherence to the CISP standards.
