Vivonet’s secure web-based technology “Halo” scheduled
for largest North American deployment to the majority of Sodexo’s 6,000 locations

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada – July 19, 2010 – Vivonet Inc, the leader in secure web-based point of sale (“POS”) software for the North American restaurant industry, today announced a landmark agreement with Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions, to deploy a success enabling technology called Halo into the majority of Sodexo’s 6,000 North American client sites by 2015.

Vancouver-based Vivonet was the winner in an evaluation process that included all major POS providers. Halo, Vivonet’s Software as a Service (“SaaS”) product, is a flexible and affordable solution that is delivered to restaurant and foodservice clients simply and securely over the Internet. Halo enables real-time transaction processing, acquires centralized point of sale, product, pricing and people data and organizes it all to be securely analyzed, reported and shared with partners. In the fast-paced foodservices industry Halo is in stark contrast to traditional POS solutions by its ability to eliminate the need for expensive and complicated site specific equipment and on-site IT support.

“This agreement sets a new benchmark in the retail and restaurant technology sector,” said Ryan Volberg, president and CEO of Vivonet. “Our partnership with Sodexo represents the largest ever Software as a Service point of sale rollout and one of the largest hospitality point of sale rollouts in North America. We believe that a transaction of this scope is a validation of Software as a Service as a legitimate technology solution for clients in the restaurant and foodservice industry who need better data to make better decisions.”

In North America alone, Sodexo serves ten million customers a day in corporate offices, health care facilities, long term care facilities, retirement homes, schools and college campuses as well as government, military, and remote sites. Sodexo employs 120,000 people and operates an estimated 6,000 sites in North America.

Halo will provide Sodexo with point of sale and payment processing capabilities as well as robust web-based enterprise management and reporting delivered via web-browser to Sodexo locations all over the continent. Halo will allow Sodexo to make better and faster product decisions and improve supply chain optimization. Put simply, it will make doing business easier and more efficient. It will be installed in Sodexo’s industry-leading dining facilities and in their retail brand locations such as Jazzman’s Cafe, Pandini’s and Sub Connection. Halo will also be installed in the leading national brands operated by Sodexo under license.

“Sodexo will use this new technology to improve the overall experience of our customers and thereby help our clients provide the best possible quality of daily life environment,” said Sodexo President and CEO George Chavel. “Halo will help us meet the challenges of our ever-changing competitive landscape and rapidly evolving customer tastes.”

The implementation of Halo will allow Sodexo to track the movement of a single product across all their brands. Behind the scenes, Vivonet’s Item Harmony technology standardizes Sodexo’s tens of thousands of product offerings into a single, standardized item file allowing Sodexo to better understand customer demand, manage supply chain and optimize product pricing.

Vivonet’s SaaS Model Protects Halo Secure Web-Based POS Clients
from PA-DSS Upgrade Fees

Vancouver, British Columbia – May 31, 2010. Vivonet, a software as a service (“SaaS”) company and the leader in secure web-based point-of-sale (“POS”) for the North American restaurant industry, today announced that their Halo™ Secure Web-Based POS product received PA-DSS certification from the PCI Security Council. PA-DSS is a comprehensive standard intended to help organizations proactively protect sensitive customer account data, through regulated requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures. The PA-DSS audit was completed by Coalfire Systems Inc., which is a certified Payment Application Qualified Security Assessor (PA-QSA).

PA-DSS certification is just the latest in Vivonet’s ongoing commitment to security and compliance. Vivonet was an early adopter of Visa’s Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) and Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) having undergone the first certification for Halo™ Secure Web-based POS in February 2007.

Since this time, Halo™ Secure Web-based POS customers have never had to pay extra for an upgrade. “This certification is a great example of the benefit of the software as a service model to our customers” said Ryan Volberg, Chief Executive Officer of Vivonet. “Many of our traditional POS competitors had little choice other than to charge their restaurant clients exorbitant hardware, software and service fees to upgrade them to a PA-DSS compliant level. Conversely, Halo™ Secure Web-based POS clients received their upgrade as a standard part of their subscription. No additional surprise charges. No downtime. It was just routine.”

Olympic Impact on Restaurants and Food Service In Vancouver/Whistler Reach 128% Sales Increase In Week One!

Vivonet releases sales data from 1,584 restaurants and foodservice outlets…

Vancouver, British Columbia – February 22, 2010. – Vancouver, BC: Restaurants in Yaletown and downtown Vancouver are reaping the benefits of the first week of 2010 Olympic spending with sales increases of 128% and 89%, respectively, compared to February 12-21 of 2009.

The research, compiled by Vivonet also shows that in Whistler, restaurants are feeling the glow. According to Vivonet President & CEO Ryan Volberg, sales are up 44%, with limited service dining up 80% and full-service dining up 56%. This is not the case for restaurants in the Broadway Corridor, the suburbs or areas outside the downtown core of Vancouver, where owners have seen their sales drop slightly.

In a national comparison, restaurant and food service sales during the first week of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Eastern Canada increased by 6% and were flat in the Prairies.

Vivonet, a Software Service Provider (SaaS) that processes millions of transactions every month in the hospitality and retail sectors across North America, released the results today based on actual sales data from 1,584 restaurants and foodservice outlets.

“This information is very exciting,” says Ian Tostenson of British Columbian Restaurant and Food Services Association. “Previously, all of the information on the impact of the Games was anecdotal and there were always conflicting opinions. If London is smart, they’ll use this information to prepare their restaurant community for the 2012 Olympics.”

“From viewing the data, it is clear that if you’re outside of the core event areas, you’d better create the atmosphere of the event within your four walls,” says Tostenson. “If you’re within a venue area, the biggest challenge you’ll have is keeping up with the demand. Prepare as much ahead as possible, without sacrificing your quality.”

Volberg says Vivonet will continue to monitor the Olympic impact with regard to return on investment for venue city restaurants during the last week of and immediately following the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. “Our next data analysis will closely track issues like Olympic fatigue,” he says.

More Growth on the Horizon: Vivonet Welcomes Tim Becerra as New Vice President Business Development…

Vancouver, British Columbia – January 7, 2010. Vivonet is excited to announce hiring of Tim Becerra as the newest member of the growing Vivonet team. Tim joins Vivonet as the Vice President of Business Development where his primary responsibilities will be to expand Vivonet’s strategic third-party and channel business relationships. With over 22 years of senior leadership experience in the point of sale industry Tim has represented both complete restaurant management systems and hardware solutions. Tim’s previous executive, senior management and field experience with Posiflex Technology, Sable Technologies and Squirrel Systems provides him with a broad vision of the point of sale market making him an ideal fit for the role and the company.

“As a software-as-a service (SaaS) company, Tim’s business development role will allow Vivonet to work more strategically with new and existing partners to rapidly bring new integrated products and services to our clients. Additionally, these partner relationships will aggressively grow the reach of Halo™ Secure Web Based POS,” said Ryan Volberg, President and Chief Executive Officer with Vivonet. “Our consistent track record of growth as the leader in secure web-based POS plus Tim’s consistent track record of partner performance is a very exciting combination.”

Born in San Leandro, CA, Tim attended Control Data Institute in San Francisco studying microprocessors and electronics, graduating with honors in 1988. His passion for developing strategic business relationships stems from his ability to use his business skills and make connections with people. In his previous role as Executive Vice President Sales and Business Development with Posiflex Technology, Inc., a leading designer and provider of point of sale terminals and related peripherals, the key to his success was developing strong business relationships that were mutually beneficial to each party and diversifying the customer base. Driven by high levels of performance, Tim is not satisfied with mediocrity and is always looking to challenge the status quo. Those close to Tim describe him as a creative and forward thinking professional that operates with a high level of integrity and trust.

“What I am most excited about in joining Vivonet is the ability to provide clients with an affordable opportunity to acquire a point of sale foundation that leverages new technology and tools to run an efficient and profitable business, with a strong return on investment, today and in the future,” says Tim, “I’m looking forward to helping with Vivonet’s continued growth and to be a part of guiding the company to its next level of success.”

In Times of Economic Woes, Vivonet ‘Exceeds’ Industry Growth Rate and Makes the ‘Ready to Rocket’ list for the 4th Consecutive Year!

Vancouver, British Columbia – January 6, 2010. Vivonet is pleased to announce it’s been included within the 2009 ‘Ready to Rocket‘ list for the fourth consecutive year. Ready to Rocket is a unique business recognition list that profiles technology companies with the greatest potential for revenue growth. Rocket Builders identifies twenty-five (25) private companies that are best positioned to capitalize on the trends for growth within the information technology (I.T.) sector as a whole.

Each year, based on analysis of trends that will drive growth in the information technology sector the Canadian-based firm Rocket Builders, the ‘Ready to Rocket’ list is the only predictive list of its kind in North America. Listed companies represent high revenue growth rates and the best value to both information technology buyers and venture capitalists. To determine the list of companies for inclusion on the ‘Ready to Rocket’ list, Rocket Builders reviewed market positioning and revenue potential for nominated companies.

“We are very pleased to have been recognized for the fourth year. Our ability to achieve elite levels of growth for four consecutive years is founded in our values; that by focusing on excellence in our business, growth will therefore follow,” states Ryan Volberg, CEO of Vivonet.

“Looking ahead to 2010 we see enormous opportunity to continue our record of award winning growth. Vivonet’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model achieved mainstream acceptance in 2009, and our leadership position in secure web-based point of sale gives us the ability to address an ever widening segment of the market: our customers range from the local independent coffee shop to multi-billion dollar multi-national corporations. No matter who you are all signs point to Halo!” said Ryan Volberg.

Vivonet Boosts the Speed and Performance of Halo Secure Web Based POS with a $1.2M investment in Oracle and Technology Infrastructure.

Vancouver, British Columbia – December 10, 2009. Vivonet is pleased to announce the investment of $1.2M into the data and technology infrastructure that powers Halo™ Secure Web Based POS. Implementation of the new technology infrastructure will be completed and in use for all Halo Secure Web Based POS clients by March 2010.

Key elements of the new Vivonet technology are; the introduction of a high density Hewlett Packard Blade System to improve Halo Secure Web Based POS performance, the addition of a 30TB Sun Storage Area Network to increase data storage capacity and reporting speed and an upgrade to Oracle Enterprise 11g to allow for improved data performance and management. In addition to these performance investments, technology improvements in security, redundancy and failover are being made that make Vivonet’s infrastructure a leader in software as a service (SaaS).

The rapid growth of the Halo™ Secure Web Based POS customer base was the primary driver for making the investment now rather than later. “In 2009, we exceeded even our most aggressive growth projections” said Ryan Volberg, Chief Executive Officer for Vivonet. “As a byproduct of this amazing success we are happily investing in our core technology stack. This investment not only allows us to scale our expanding customer base with ease, it also gives our existing customers a quantum leap forward with both speed and performance improvements. It really is a win – win investment.”

The Oracle Enterprise 11g technology allows for far more than just performance gains. “The Oracle investment in particular allows Vivonet to realize our ‘Organize’ strategy and lays the foundation for significant data product enhancements such as market based sales and product benchmarking” said Tom Kakanowski, Chief Technology Officer for Vivonet. “If you think about it, Vivonet currently owns and manages the world’s largest data warehouse of independent restaurant transactions with almost 100 million transactions hitting our Oracle database every month. This new technology is the basis for which we can begin to leverage this data for the benefit of our clients and our shareholders.”
