Vivonet is currently looking for a Database Administrator (DBA). The successful candidate will be responsible for the support and maintenance our Oracle 9i production, QA and development databases, and participate with migration efforts to SQL Server 2005/2008.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and perform upgrades and patches
• Provide day-to-day (24x7) support and maintenance for databases and ensure service levels are met.
• Proven ability to design, implement and maintain scalable, large databases and educate staff on these principals
• Monitor database events
• Performance Analysis & Tuning of structures and code
• Backup management
• Failover planning and management
• Capacity planning
• Security management
• Provide support to internal staff to resolve their technical problems.
• Develop scripts as necessary to automate manual processes
• Mentor junior staff

Required Skills and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of the Oracle 9i, MS SQL Server 2005, RMAN, T-SQL and PL/SQL is essential
• Experience in PL/SQL and T-SQL stored procedures, triggers, functions, cursors & packages
• Good understanding of standby database, both logical and physical standby, log shipping, replication strategies and impacts
• Strong skills in Performance Analysis and Tuning
• Expert Knowledge of TKPROF, STATSPACK, ADDM, explain plan, MSIS, showplans, and metadata handling

Educational and Experience Requirements

• 5 years of operational experience with production Oracle and Microsoft database environments
• Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience

Useful Assets

• Experience with BI technologies, warehousing and mining, MSAS
• Experience with PCI and PAPB standards
• Experience with storing and manipulating XML data
• Experience with .NET and LYNX in respect to MS SQL Server
• Microsoft and/or Oracle certifications
